<p>Don&#8217;t let anyone tell you that relationships can&#8217;t be formed on 140 characters. I am humbled that <a href="http://twitter.com/musecrossing">Musey</a> took the time out to even contemplate sticking my mug into this site. The video made me cry knowing that someone took time out to think about me.</p>

<p>TweetDeck release v0.33.0 of their popular Twitter desktop client. The changes are a plenty.</p>
<p>A huge raft of improvements in functionality. A brand new API monitor that looks at each of your columns you have open, my poor iPhone picture below.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ernmander.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/api.jpg" rel="lightbox[663]"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-665" title="api" src="http://www.ernmander.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/api.jpg" alt="" width="779" height="444" /></a></p>
<p>The amount of media that can be played or viewed from directly within TweetDeck has increased, most notably YouTube. The image below shows you some of the new features within TweetDeck.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ernmander.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/New-in-TweetDeck-v0.33.0.jpg" rel="lightbox[663]"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-664" title="New in TweetDeck v0.33.0" src="http://www.ernmander.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/New-in-TweetDeck-v0.33.0.jpg" alt="" width="713" height="509" /></a></p>
<p>I have always loved the ability to use 12Seconds from within TweetDeck.</p>
<p><object width="853" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U0R7GjtBE5Q&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U0R7GjtBE5Q&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object></p>
<p>There is still the ability to monitor and post to your Facebook. You can also keep track on your MySpace and LinkedIn.</p>
<p>The only improvement I would love to see in TweetDeck would be the ability to collapse the columns.</p>
<p>Go play with TweetDeck, there are loads of hidden features that I have not touched on. You can find <a href="http://www.tweetdeck.com">TweetDeck here</a>. I did notice this version of TweetDeck seems quicker. This must be due to the new way it interacts with the Twitter API.</p>
<p>New video below on all the new functions of TweetDeck.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="853" height="505" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KtbjWcpVg0U&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;hd=1" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="853" height="505" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KtbjWcpVg0U&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;hd=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>

Basically in Richard&#8217;s words &#8220;Some peiople are having crashes when they use the new update, so we have pulled the app temporarily until we&#8217;ve investigated&#8221;</p>
<p>I hope they fix it soon as I am a huge fan of the TweetDeck iPhone app. Also they are great at letting you know what is going on.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">There are a few things that may help while we wait for Twitter to get a handle on security.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">There are a number of link scanners that can be used to fight rogue links within Twitter. These are the two that I know about.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a style="font-family: arial, sans-serif, 'Arial Unicode MS'; color: #4263ab;" href="http://linkscanner.avg.com/ww.sals-how-it-works.html" target="_blank">http://linkscanner.avg.com/ww.sals-how-it-works.html</a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a style="font-family: arial, sans-serif, 'Arial Unicode MS'; color: #4263ab;" href="http://securebrowsing.finjan.com/" target="_blank">http://securebrowsing.finjan.com/</a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If you do not trust or have the link scanner software, do not click on suspicious links within Twitter. If your unsure don&#8217;t click.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">There is a firefox plugin called LongURL Mobile Expander. In it&#8217;s own words:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">You should always know where a link takes you before clicking on it. Services like TinyURL.com make that difficult. LongURL Mobile Expander uses the LongURL.org web services to let you know where shortened links *really* go. This can be found at <a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8636">https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8636</a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The other thing I would suggest people do is go through their account connections <a style="font-family: arial, sans-serif, 'Arial Unicode MS'; color: #4263ab;" href="http://twitter.com/account/connections" target="_blank">http://twitter.com/account/connections</a> and remove connections that are  no longer required.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Change your password regularly.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">These are things that may help while we wait for Twitter to concentrate on stability and security. We all like shiny shiny like lists and update notifications, but stability and security for me first please.</p>

<p>I see the latest Twibbon is for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.</p>
<p>While I think Twibbon is a good way of highlighting a cause, I hope you all remember to go out and actually buy a poppy.</p>
<p>Remember The Royal British Legion Poppy Twibbon does not put money into the charity. The charity actually needs cold hard cash. By buying a poppy you are not supporting wars. You are helping pay for the treatment, physical and mental of injured service personnel. You are paying for homeless shelters that rehabilitate service personnel who have lost their way. You are paying to support families who have lost sons, daughters and parents to the ravages of war. You are also remembering those who gave their lives before.</p>
<p>So though the Twibbon highlights the cause, buying the poppy will actually support the cause.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.poppy.org.uk/support-us/give-money">http://www.poppy.org.uk/support-us/give-money</a> &#8211; if you want donate online.</p>
