I see the latest Twibbon is for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
While I think Twibbon is a good way of highlighting a cause, I hope you all remember to go out and actually buy a poppy.
Remember The Royal British Legion Poppy Twibbon does not put money into the charity. The charity actually needs cold hard cash. By buying a poppy you are not supporting wars. You are helping pay for the treatment, physical and mental of injured service personnel. You are paying for homeless shelters that rehabilitate service personnel who have lost their way. You are paying to support families who have lost sons, daughters and parents to the ravages of war. You are also remembering those who gave their lives before.
So though the Twibbon highlights the cause, buying the poppy will actually support the cause.

Twibbons annoy me – they are basically a way of saying to the world "Look, I care about XXX, not actually done anything for it, but look at my picture!"
remember everyone going green for Iran? Wonder what good that did… or when the last time someone wondered what had happened to that cause?
I agree, it is also akin to sending a text to someone instead of a birthday card.
I support by actions not by Twibbons, even though Twibbons do highlight causes. But actions are needed, i.e give money to a cause you believe in etc.
I agree! The cash goes to help the many soldiers and their families. Thank you so much for tweeting this to the world. We need to support taking care of our people even if we don't agree with all the choices of war. We all need to agree with contributing to do our part to help and take care of those who gave the most to us. You said it quite well. Thank you again for pointing this out and hopefully others will contribute as well. Anything worth having never came for free!
Thank you Wendym. It is one of the causes that is close to me. A lot of people think that by buying a poppy you are supporting war. That is not the case, by buying one you are supporting the people effected and destroyed by it.
