I know a lot of people have been waiting for this day. Ficly.com is alive and working wonderfully. What am I talking about? let me explain.
Ficly is a site where you can go and write stories. The twist here is that you are limited to 1024 characters to write your story in. The other cool twists are that people can read your story and write prequels or sequels to them. They also can comment, rate and follow you if they want.
I found the challenges are a great idea, where a user challenges others to write something in a certain style or using a certain combination of letters, the challenges are only limited to the challengers imagination. Thank you Steph for letting me know about this site, I love the ethos and the community seems to be very genuine.
I know that I am not a writer by any stretch of the imagination but I have already published 4 stories and love doing them. They vary from a sentence to a few paragraphs.
Ficly was created by Kevin Lawver, Jason Garber and Joe Dzikiewicz
I am not going to go into the history of why Ficly is here (AOL pulling support for Ficlets) because I do not know the ins and outs also there is plenty of documentation out there on who, why and when. What I am here to tell you is that I have found Ficly and want to get my writing pants on
Ficly in their own words:
We believe in the art of creating stories and the craft of sharing them. We are inspired by the written word and the authors that link words and phrases together to form tales.
Ficly is a place for playing with story-telling; a collaborative environment where anyone can pick up a narrative thread and weave a prequel or sequel.
You can start a story or jump into someone else’s tale. The possibilities are endless, and in some cases, so are the stories.
So jump in I have

Yay! I hope you find Ficly to be as awesome and inspirational as I have
The community is indeed one of the best there is. I'm glad you like it hon!
