I left you a comment on the twitter poll but I'll paste it here too
I voted no. I think if you provide valuable or entertaining blog content – however you present it – people will comment. I think you only need to look at YouTube to see that people will comment on videos. Granted most of those comments are crap, so maybe posting the vid away from YouTube will weed out the chaff and leave you with a nicer selection of comments. But I run several blogs (as you know ) that are regular texty ones, and I struggle to get comments as much as you struggle to get comments on a vlog. So I don't think it's the format so much as people's commenting habits, which isn't something you can control.
