Today I was sat watching the BBC’s Working Lunch, when out of the blue they mentioned Twitter.
We all know that the US news channels all have Twitter accounts and loads of their newspapers Tweet on Twitter.
I emailed my local newspaper and asked if they would be tweeting local news. Guess what, no reply. UK media/news needs to keep on evolving and grasp onto new ways of spreading news. I praise the cast of Working Lunch for the Twitter plug.
Could the BBC and UK TV channels be finally catching on to this addictive and informative social network? I for one hope so.

Fantastic that they gave twitter a plug like that. What I wonder is what the state of Twitter actually is in the UK. I'd be interested in number of users etc.
I know the BBC and all its sub-entities have Twitter accounts, but on the whole, I'm dissapointed that many media companies are ignoring the powerful potential of Tweeting breaking news. My local newspaper back home has a rather healthy Twitter account, and that's in deepest, darkest Devon!. If Stephen Fry can do it, so can ITV, Channel 4 etc.
